SCHNURMACHER CHAPELWe have created a light filled, intimate new Chapel on the sixth floor of the 83rd Street building adjacent to the Eisner Auditorium where congregants, families and children in our school
can worship, study and celebrate together. The design features a curved wall that encloses the space in a warm, symbolic manner, reflecting the communal spirit of our services and the closeness of the Rodeph Sholom community.
The Schnurmacher Chapel has a wonderfully conceived, flexible seating design. Most of the time it accommodates 250 people for small intimate services, family simchas such as baby namings and weddings, adult education sessions and other family, congregational and school events. The beautifully renovated Eisner Auditorium provides a separate, light-filled social area for receptions, classes, meetings and activities. On the High Holidays and for other larger services, an attractive moveable wall between the Schnurmacher Chapel and the Eisner Auditorium opens to expand the seating capacity of the Chapel to 500.
New innovative play equipments was purchased for the Nursery School playground located on the sixth floor roof terrace. An express elevator provides much improved and speedier service to the fifth floor Nursery and Religious School and
to the Schnurmacher Chapel on the sixth floor.
